Work permits in 2026: what changes for employers

Single permit, shorter deadlines, stricter documentation. A short guide to what an employer has to prepare before the first foreign worker arrives.

Work permits in 2026: what changes for employers

The single work and residence permit has cut the administrative path for employers roughly in half, but it has not made it any less formal. The paperwork simply moved earlier in the process - most of it now has to be complete before the worker sets off.

What an employer prepares

  • Proof of the vacancy and the labour market test, where it is still required.
  • An employment contract in a language the worker understands.
  • Proof of accommodation and health insurance from day one.
  • Certified translations of diplomas and trade certificates.

Where the time is actually lost

In practice, delays rarely come from the authorities. They come from documents collected in the wrong order - a contract signed before the qualification was verified, or accommodation confirmed after the application was filed.

Prepare the file as one package. A permit application that is complete on the first submission is normally decided in weeks, not months.

Jobela keeps every candidate document in one verified profile, so the file is ready before you make an offer.
